Selecting A Course

Essentials or Think The Game?

Point Guard College participants are invited to sign up for either Essentials or Think The Game to begin their PGC education. The two courses are designed to complement each other and it is completely up to you to decide which course to attend first.

Which course do we recommend? Sign up for the one that works best for you in terms of your schedule and the location. You can always attend the other course later in the summer or perhaps next year. Think The Game grads will benefit from attending Essentials, and Essentials grads will benefit from Think The Game. If you have to choose between the two courses and you're able to get to either one, we recommend selecting the course based on the aspects of your game that you need to develop the most.

Prep School or Essentials and Think The Game?

If you are entering 7th to 10th grade in the fall, you are eligible to attend Prep School courses. But, if you are entering 9th or 10th grade, you are eligible to attend Prep School as well as Essentials and Think The Game courses.

Which one should you attend? If you are able to attend a Prep School course, we highly recommend it as a starting point to your PGC experience. You can then work your way through each of our courses having started with a solid foundation. The exception to this would be if you're not able to get to a Prep School session, due to accessibility or scheduling conflicts. Then, as long as you are mature and serious about your game, you'll do just fine at Essentials or Think The Game.

College Session or Essentials and Think The Game?

If you have completed at least one year of college, you are eligible to attend our College Session. You are also eligible to attend Essentials and Think The Game courses.

Which one should you choose? We recommend signing up for the course that works best for you in terms of your schedule and the location. Over 200 Division I, II, II, NAIA, and Junior College players attend our Essentials and Think The Game courses each summer, as both courses have been designed with the college player in mind.

“My son said that he learned more about basketball during Essentials than he's learned during his past two years of playing point guard for his high school team, and he feels that he has increased his chances of earning a college scholarship. He said that all of the instructors were highly knowledgeable and inspirational. I thank you for the positive impact that you've had on my son."
P.J. Gore, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

“I’ll be more prepared to control the tempo and position my teammates for high-percentage shots. Pressure won’t scare me anymore. Every session had an impact—I loved Think the Game!
Brittney Stauffer, McVeytown, Pennsylvania.
