Welcome To Point Guard College
Point Guard College (PGC) is an intense, no-nonsense learning experience for high school and college-aged male and female student-athletes. Not like typical basketball camps, it's called a “college” for a reason.
The course curriculum is specially designed to teach basketball players to play the game intelligently, to train purposefully, to be “coaches on the court,” and to be true leaders during games, in practice, during the off-season, and in everyday life.
WHAT DO WE TEACH AT PGC?
At PGC, we teach what all good coaches already teach, and have taught for decades ... or, WOULD teach if they had the time. We just happen to teach it more effectively and creatively and with a heckuva lot of integrity and passion. Nothing we teach is “special,” per se. How we teach it is special. And, who teaches it is special as well.
We do commonsense things in an uncommon way.
THE PGC EXPERIENCE
Insightful, original and unusual, PGC is an intelligent approach to basketball. Creative concepts are used to develop habits of play that lead to winning basketball.
It takes a great deal of energy, intelligence, and knowledge to run the show successfully on a basketball court. Leaders have to sell their vision, get a team to work together, initiate action, inspire teammates, judge talent, urge perseverance, and understand people’s attitudes and motivation. Our courses teach players and coaches how to lead with intelligence, eliminate mistakes, develop positive habits of play, and give their team the best chance to win.
PGC is an indispensable guide for players and coaches trying to lift their basketball I.Q. to a higher level – whether you’re in high school, college or professional sport.
Although a lot of players who come to PGC are point guards, our basketball program also attracts shooting guards, small forwards, power forwards and centers.
OUR COURSES
Intended for the highly driven student-athlete, the PGC curriculum has been systematically put together so that each course connects to and builds upon the others. The PGC curriculum will take any athlete or coach from the most fundamental basketball skills right through to highly advanced technical and tactical concepts.
Each course is a 5-day, 4-night, full immersion, player development experience.
WHAT MAKES PGC DIFFERENT?
It comes right down to what we teach: how to be winners and how to win championships.
Our commitment is to be the kind of place that "winners" are drawn to. At PGC we refer to this group as “THE 1%!” And, we help the 1% do what they do, better. We also teach someone who's not in the 1%, but who wants to be, the things that the 1% already know and are already doing.
Founded by Dick DeVenzio in 1993-94 (as “Point Guard Basketball College”), PGC is focused on equipping athletes with championship habits. In the past six years alone, over 300 NCAA athletes have come to school at PGC during their off-season. Amongst them, 183 have been Division I athletes, eight have been WNBA draft picks, while numerous in the bunch have been first team all conference players in the ACC, Big 12, Big 10, SEC and Big East.
PGC is the place where champions go to get schooled.
