Lyndsey (Medders) Fennelly first attended Point Guard College in 2005, directed by Dena Evans. The following season, she earned All-American honors at Iowa State University, where she led the NCAA in assists during the 2005-06 season.
Lyndsey was named as one of the top five point guards in the United States by ESPN and was selected by the Indiana Fever in the second round of the 2007 WNBA draft. Lyndsey has worked with Point Guard College since the fall of 2007 after graduating Iowa State with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. She has completed numerous leadership training courses, including Dale Carnegie’s “Effective Communication and Human Relations”.
The Los Angeles, California native shattered every Iowa State assist record and set a record when she dished out 16 in a single game. Although she created her ISU legacy by passing the ball, Lyndsey was also one of the most prolific scorers in the school’s history, finishing her career tied for seventh place all-time on the Cyclones’ scoring list with 1,449 points. Lyndsey was an All Big-12 First Team selection as both a junior and senior. She has had numerous opportunities to continue her playing career professionally, but is an impassioned teacher and student of the game.
Lyndsey’s love for teaching began when she was 13 years old and assisted her youth coaches in the various sports camps they were leading. During her 4 year college experience, Lyndsey served as a coach with the All Iowa Attack AAU basketball program coaching tournaments, leading practices, directing summer camps, and organizing tournaments. She has directed a number of camps and clinics throughout the United States.
Her love and passion for the game has spread into other markets as well. She also serves as the color commentator for Mediacom Connections, a local cable television company featuring some Iowa State women’s basketball home games.
Lyndsey currently resides in Ames, Iowa with her husband, Billy Fennelly, who is the Director of Player Development at Iowa State University. Lyndsey is a full-time course director and clinician with Point Guard College.
